Quality Accommodation in the Heart of Roman Wall Country |
| |
 |
Vallum Lodge is the perfect base for a walking or touring holiday, being situated about half a mile south of the most scenic part of Hadrians Wall, close to all the Roman sites.
The Hadrians Wall bus service, which runs on Sundays, Bank Holidays and daily in summer, connects all the main sites and passes our door, stopping at the nearby Twice Brewed Inn (real ales, good food). As an alternative to Hadrians Wall, the Haltwhistle Rings collection of 22 walks explores some other parts of this beautiful area.
The pretty village of Corbridge and Hexham with it's abbey and market place are 20 minutes drive away and are well worth a visit.
If you feel like hitting the shops, Newcastle and the Metrocentre are within 45 minutes drive.
Further afield but still within easy reach for a day out are:
The magnificent castles and beaches of the Northumberland coast, Alnwick, Bamburgh, Warkworth and Dunstanburgh
The beautiful National Trust properties of Cragside and Wallington
The fascinating North of England open air museum at Beamish
The North Lakes, in particular Lake Ullswater
Kielder Forest with its reservoir and many cycle trails
